While manipulating my Stug to take the photos, I didn’t realize that the road wheel were not resting correctly on the track... You now understand why I switched to 1/16!!!! There I would have noticed it.....
The tracks: preparation, painting and assembling.
Some accessories like tracks to assemble link by link for example are now necessary. These parts are a success : a superdetailed engraving on both sides,a facility of assembling and a large choice on the market.I equipped our Stug III
with some withe metal Friulmodel tracks ref.ATL-04.The other manufacturers propose tracks in plastic. At Friulmodel's ,the connection of the links is made by setting. You have to place several links in the matrix provided by the manufacturer and you set them thanks to a little flat screwdriver. So the track does not move anymore.Once it is assembled on the model, the effect obtained is really satisfying. No more difficulties to represent the natural weight of the track on the support rollers or onthe wheels. You would better paint the tracks before assembling them because once placed, some parts can be inaccessible! Paint teh tracks Humbrol Earth 29 with a brush. After the drying ,it will be brushed with a scotchbrite scourer in order to make appear the nude metal in contact with the ground ,it is simple and very efficient.
Then place the track between the idler wheel and the mudguard and make it slide until the drive sprocket.Set the track at the centre and above the running gear preferably. As the manufacturer is very generous ,you have enough links to reinforce the Stug armor at the front of the casemate.,at the front of the hull ,on the sides and around the spare wheels.
