On Sept 11, 1944 two Daimler Scout Cars of the 2nd Household Cavalry, led by Lieutenant Rupert Buchanan-Jardine of D Squadron, carried out a reconnaissance into Holland to see whether the Dommel Bridge just south of Valkenswaard was intact and capable of taking tanks. About a mile short of the bridge they were surrounded by a group of Dutchmen. Lt. Buchanan-Jardine tried to calm the civilians.
I drove this very road a few weeks ago.
Here is my take on part of the scene. The Daimler Dingo is the 1/72 scale S Model kit Dingo Mk I converted to a Mk II, with enhancements and home made stowage (some from David Williams). The markings are from Dan Taylor Modelworks, and the figures are 3D printed (I forget the source).
