BT-7

Hi guys,

I had the opportunity to build Tamiya's BT-7 given to me a while back. The time couldn't be right; I was looking forward to build and paint something quick out of the box to get out some kind of a rut I'm in after a couple of involved builds I have going recently. It certainly was good to build something from Tamiya again! The model came without PE for the engine screens, some mesh screens was added from the spare box.

I have to mentioned at this stage, the model is still in progress. More filters and streaks to be added. Model will be treated with a matt coat when the weathering is complete. Also a few detail painting left before I'd call it done.

For paint scheme, I opted for a different one and chose to do a whitewash vehicle seeing the more common paint schemes were green. My intention is to depict a vehicle that has been in the field a short time yet it still retains a relatively well applied whitewash. A friend of mine and I decided to collaborate - I build and paint the BT, he paints the figure Smiler. We felt a figure always made a difference to the subject. The dio in me decided to do a simple scene that will come a later time. This would give context and add some sort of atmosphere to the final piece.

I'll take better photos and a different background next update.

Hi Julian,

Good to see you back around at Twenot Forums.
I like the whitewash and looking forward to seeing how the added effects will come out.
At the moment, it's a bit flat, but you said it's a work in progress.

Good luck in finishing this one!

All the best, MartinD

I got one of these sitting around in a coat of primer, waiting to be painted, but I could never find the inspiration to get started. Yours has certainly lit a fire underneath the thing. Great model, great figure. Thanks for sharing it.
