4,7cm PaK(t) auf R35 - Hobby Boss - 1/35

Hi all,

I apologise if this is the wrong section but I have to admit that my Dutch is fairly basic and I can barely read it. 😕

I did not find the introduction section for the newbies. If someone could guide me, that would be great.
So I will introduce myself here.
I am 42 and coming from France (s*$t happens as they say).
Father of 2: a 7 year old son and a 2 year old daughter.
I have a passion for History, especially the period ranging from 1870 to the end of WW2.
I started model kits with Matchbox and Airfix planes when I was a kid but soon got into tanks as there were more parts.
I quit the hobby for over 15 years. When I got back into it, 3 years ago, the techniques had made a huge leap forward.
WW2 German armor is my main centre of interest (how original!), especially the Becker zoo.
I am more of an assembler than a painter.

I discovered this forum when a friend of mine sent a link where it was referred to one of my builds.
Neil Henkemans said I was a victim of AMS. Coming from a man who ended up pimping up his Bronco H38 so much that he finished releasing the first ever entirely 3D rpinted tank, that is a massive compliment! 😀
I thought I would share the end result here.

The diorama was inspired by a rather famous picture taken near the oratoire of Le Molay-Littry in Normandy and depicts a 4,7cm PaK(t) auf R35 of schnelle Brigade 30 inspected by GIs
So this is it. I hope you like it.

The model is from Hobby Boss with a lot of work put in to improve it. I spent a lot of time detailing the engine and the interior although very little remains visible at the end... 😳
Some guys here pointed out that I had got the ammo compartment wrong.
Unfortunately, they are right! I made the same mistake at Mr Zaloga and it is too long 🙁
The 2 standing figures are from Dragon albeit heavily modified for one of them. The crouched figure is scratchbuilt.

If you are interested in seeing pictures of the build, I will gladly share them.
They should be self explanatory for most.

Hi Seb,

Looks convincing, especially the trees and foliage. Which products and/or techniques did you use to achieve this result?

Kind regards,

Vincent

Dank U!

The tree trunks were made of zeechium painted with acrylics and weathered using oils.
I sprayed some glue on the branches and dipped them into dried parsley
Then I painted the foliage of each tree separately using various tones of green.

The lower grass is garden moss left to dry for 2 weeks and then shredded.
The bramble bushes and the tufts of grass are from Modelscene
The flowers and the ivy are from Mininatur
I tried to mix as many references as possible whilst trying to remain logical and place them randomly.

Welcome Seb 😀

Beautyfull diorama ! very much appreciate the vegetation, i think it looks very natural.
Also like to see detail pics of the R35 and i certainly don't mind you posting the WIP pics 😛

What is the relation of the Becker zoo to German armour ?

Greetings 😀

Well, after their victory against France, the Germans captured many tanks, half-tracks and softskins. The Bautstab Becker salvaged obsolete French tanks and halftracks and converted/upgraded them using modern German guns. A bit like the Marder series.
21 Pz. Div. Neu was mostly equipped with such items. Apart from its Pz.A.A. that was entirely equipped with German vehicles, AFAIK.

I enclose pictures of the build. I had to come back on many details as I was finding more information when the build was progressing. So it might not be all that clear.

Hull and interior details:

Ammo compartment:

Gun and fighting compartment:

Painting of the interior:

Painting and weathering:

I ended up redoing some details like the tarp at the rear and reworked the dust effects as I was progressing with the diorama.

Never heard of Beckers zoo, sounds interesting.

Thanks for sharing the pics...stunning details man 😱 😛
